- Party star Skolopad has to find her own way to the Durban July this year
- She reveled that due tot hing like this, she has been questioning the party life
- Nothing comes for free these days, unless you are one of SA's super celebs
Mid way through the year we are all wishful that there would be a bonus in our pay packets. Not many of us even get a bonus at all. With the Durban July almost here, we will be digging into our wallets to make that bet.
There are some personalities that have the privilege of getting certain things for free like flights, accommodation and clothes. This seems to be not applicable to Skolopad as she learnt the hard way having to pay for everything she really wanted. She was not giving anything for free and it ended up being an expensive exercise.
Skolopad highlighted that she has reconsidered the “partying like celeb” thing as it was far too expensive, reported Times Live.
The entertainer was under the misconception that she would be offered things for free, until she woke up to reality when she found out that the hotel she was staying at increased their tariff just because they knew she was a celeb.
Briefly.co.za learnt that Skolopad would not disclose the name of the place that she will be staying. She was initially given the stay at R850 per night, but when they put two and two together knowing it was Skolopad, the price suddenly increased to R1 500 per night.
Realising that even R850 was out of her price range, Skolopad made the decision to rather to take the offer of her friends spare room for the weekend. It is sad that people are exploited just because of their name and celeb presence.
There will be no super celeb red carpet snapping for Skolopad. She has made the decision that she will be wearing a “R5” dress and will arrive in her little VW.
She also said that being Skolopad is expensive. She feels that because of her appearance it automatically increases publicity and therefore things should be cheaper for her.
There are those that are paid or get a sponsorship for the same kind of publicity she gives. In light of this, she will not go out of her way to highlight her attire and will be a ‘normal’ person wearing a ‘normal’ dress. She stated that she is over being used.
Nothing is free in this industry unless you are squad Bonang, Pearl Thusi, AKA and Somizi.
