Best news ever! Radio 702 personality, Xolani Gwala, has announced he is officially in remission after his nine-month long battle with colon cancer.
After the cancer as discovered, Xolani had surgery to remove the tumour and has been undergoing radiation therapy ever since, reported TimesLive.
Prospects for the gent have been positive for a while and Briefly.co.za reported that it wasn’t that long ago that one of his close friends, Redi Thlabi, gave a progress report stating:
Redi took to social media to share an update on his health and Tweeps welcomed the update on his health.
"I saw Gwala recently. He is his usual self. Previous op went VERY well. But remember it's not a sprint but an ultramarathon… there are a few more steps ahead. But I promise you...Xolani is exceeding all expectations. My darling friend is still standing. That IS significant", she captioned her post.
Station Manager for 702, Thabisile Mbete stated that Xolani was in good spirits and added the station hoped to see him back very soon.
Briefly.co.za reported on his diagnosis nine months ago when the radio station announced he would be taking a break from work to deal with “a serious medical condition”.
At that time, Xolani bravely spoke of how the cancer had spread to his liver, stating that he had already had one operation and would be starting chemotherapy the following week.
At that time, Tweeps offered up their support of his battle and well wishes for his future.
