The Democratic Alliance’s Chief Whip took to social media to slam the treatment of vulnerable people after it was reported social grant recipients queued outside the Post Office since the early morning hours.

“This is how the ANC government treats the most vulnerable people in our society, while the architect of this misery, Bathabile Dlamini, still sits comfortably in the cabinet”, Steenhuisen commented on the report.

His tweet sparked mixed reactions from social media users, most of which wanted to know what he was doing about the situation, other than pointing it out on Twitter.

“Honourable MP, we appreciate that you observe intently and tweet boldly. However, what are you doing to help our people?”, @ATshoaedi asked him.

Another tweep, @douglas0748, agreed with Steenhuisen. He wrote, “If a decent person, black or white, stuffed up on the scale Bathabile Dlamini has, they'd resign. Alternatively, a moral & honest govt would have sacked her. Unfortunately she isn't & they aren't, so the vulnerable suffer the consequences. Sad.”
