The mom of the rescued two-year-old Bergville toddler spoke about the terrifying ordeal, which she doubted her daughter would survive.
The mother admitted after two days went by, she doubted that her daughter would survive the cold weather of the Bergville mountains.
However, the moment she saw a policeman walk down the mountain with her child in his arms, she was extremely happy.
IOL reported the mom talked about the events leading up to her daughter's disappearance. She said her son, daughter and cousin were playing on a dirt road near her aunt's home.
She said she could see them where they were playing and she saw a couple of horsing coming so she called the children in.
However, only her son and their cousin returned home, her daughter was no where to be found.
“I went to our home, thinking that maybe she could have headed there but she didn’t. I went back to my aunt’s and we got neighbours out looking but when we still couldn’t find her by 9pm, I phoned the police who told me to come to the station in the morning.”
As Briefly.co.za reported previously, Rescuers found the girl in the Bergville mountains on Friday after searching for her for two days.
Temperatures in the area have been plummeting to -3° Celsius at night. The little girl, whose name has been withheld, only had on a light T-shirt and a pair of pants.
