Well-known journalist Qaanitah Hunter has revealed that she first came to Johannesburg with only R200 and one pair of shoes.

It is from these humble beginnings that she graduated from Wits University yesterday, Briefly.co.za learned.

After obtaining her BA (Hons) degree in Journalism and Media Studies, Qaanitah shared a photo of herself on Twitter along with her inspiring revelation.

Qaanitah's tweet has gone viral, racking up more than 10,300 likes and 1,400 retweets. Her followers congratulated her.

They also commended her resilience in overcoming her modest start in Johannesburg. See some of their reactions below.

Qaanitah is the latest among many South Africans who have overcome significant challenges in their lives to graduate.
