Nelson Mandela is one of the most beloved South African politicians of all time, but tweeps are not too happy about news that his face would be on all bank notes.
The new banknotes and coins with Madiba's face on is set to hit South Africans' wallets next week, TimesLIVE reported..
Mandela's 100th birthday is coming up and the SA Reserve Bank wanted to honour the first democratic president by putting his face on all the banknotes.
According to the reserve bank's media statement, each R5 coin and banknote tells a different story of milestones in Madiba's life.
However, Briefly.co.za learned tweeps are not too happy about the big five making way for Madiba.
HermaineM wrote on Twitter, "There's no hope for South Africa, these Mandela notes will be available from next week, goodbye Big 5".
Her sentiments were echoed by other social media users, who felt Mandela has been featured on enough things and they should give honour to others as well.
One tweep wrote, "No offense to the big guy or anything but why can't we have other struggle icons on different bank notes? We can live and breathe Mandela everywhere kaloku, it's too much."
Soon tweeps started to poke fun at the new SA banknotes, and they even dragged Zuma into it as well.
