- His story has inspired many South African tweeps
A determined young man who used to sell earphones to raise money to gain library access graduated with an LLB degree from Wits University recently.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Jamie, who uses the handle @thenextbarack on Twitter, shared his inspiring journey on the social media platform.
Jamie first posted a picture of himself selling the earphones outside the library at Wits in November 2017. He urged the black child to "keep grinding."
On 5 July, 2018, he posted an update indicating that his resilience paid off and he is now an LLB graduate.
A proud Jamie also shared photos of himself after his graduation ceremony.
In a subsequent post, he thanked all those who supported him in his incredible journey.
Jamie's story inspired many South Africans on Twitter. They congratulated and praised him for his resilience. See some of their reactions below.
Amazingly, Jamie publicly pledged R1,000 to a student who dropped out because of R21,000 in outstanding fees.
