- He set out to find the child, and he managed to do just that
- However, he learned the child was taken from his family with the belief that he would get an education
- But, instead he was used to sell good on the street for the lady who promised him a better life
A social media user shared the heartbreaking story of a 10-year-old boy, who had to stay on busy roads to sell goods for the lady who looked after him.
Instagram user unilagolodo posted a pic of a child on a busy road at night and the young man immediately touched his heart.
Briefly.co.za gathered he asked social media users who the child was, and he ended up finding out the young man’s name was Joseph.
He came in contact with the young man and Joseph told his heartbreaking story, Unilagolodo shared on his Instagram page.
He started off the post by saying: “So I had a video chat with Joseph, he is 10 years old and his from akwa Ibom state. He told me that he is living with a woman that took him from his parents in the village and promised that she will send him to school in Lagos because his parents couldn’t afford to train him, but when he got to Lagos instead of school the lady put him on the street to sell things and bring money back to her.”
“I have tried to talk with the lady to have a better understanding of the situation but she doesn’t want to talk instead she said we can take the boy.I have spoken with Joseph and he said he wants to go back home and go to school because his parents who he hasn’t seen or spoken to doesn’t know that he is hawking in Lagos , and yes he hasn’t eaten in 3 days”, he added.
He added he was going to put Joseph on a flight back to his home, where he can be reunited with his family.
