A group of young South Africans who are part of an outreach programme called Love Week in coordination with the Dare2Care Foundation have successfully raised over R70 000 for those less fortunate this winter.
The group braved the chilly winter air every morning to ask for donations at traffic lights throughout Alberton.
Briefly.co.za learned that the money gathered would be used to buy jackets and meals for people who are in desperate need during the bitterly cold winter months.
The group raised R60 000 in cash and received jacket donations in excess of R10 000. They also fed 150 people looking for work in the area.
Part of the money raised would go towards helping the disadvantaged children in the area. The Love Week group consisted of 70 young adults who woke up early each day to inspire people to donate to those in need.
