FIFA president Gianni Infantino has extended an invitation to the under 16 Thai soccer team who have been trapped in a cave in Thailand after flood waters sealed them inside.
Infantino said that he hoped that the team, called the Wild Boars, would all be rescued before the final in Moscow on the 15th of July.
“If, as we all hope, they are reunited with their families in the coming days and their health allows them to travel, FIFA would be delighted to invite them to attend the 2018 World Cup final as our guests,” he wrote in a letter to the head of the Football Association of Thailand.
The boys range from 11 to 16 years old and were on an expedition to explore a cave complex with their 25-year-old coach when they were stranded deep underground.
Their ordeal has captured the world's attention and many tried to assist in the rescue of the boys, including Elon Musk who has sent a team to aid the rescue efforts.
Rescue attempts are currently under way to save the boys and with luck they will all be safe soon.
The Croatian football team, who have made it to the semi-finals, have expressed htier aw of the young team and how they have remained calm under extreme pressure.
