The former teammates got involved in a very public (thanks to their millions of followers) bet on the outcome of the World Cup quarter final match between Sweden and England on Sunday.

Briefly.co.za gathered that Ibrahimovic started the bet when he posted pictures of previous encounters between the national sides in which he and Beckham were playing.

He followed that up with the following post which outlined the original terms of the bet.

Sport24.com reported that Beckham buoyed by the national mood sweeping across England replied to the bet and actually upped the ante for both men.

Beckham proposed a new bet which Ibrahimovic duly accepted. The deal received the seal of approval from the player’s former US club the LA Galaxy.

The way in which Ibrahimovic accepted his fate and confirmed he would keep his side of the deal is pretty spectacular. He played into the English mood of “It’s coming home” perfectly by posting on Instagram “I’m coming congrats.”

The next available England match at Wembley will take place on 8 September and will see the Three Lions take on Spain. We and the rest of the footballing world will be looking at the stands to see whether Ibrahimovic and Beckham make their appearance.
