- Relebohile Moeng suffered a car accident that left her with facial scars
- She discovered cold-pressed organic oils
- After being retrenched, she started her own business manufacturing skin products from these oils
An inspiring South African entrepreneur overcame a car accident and retrenchment to build a multimillion Rand business.
Relebohile Moeng was left with facial scars after her accident a few years ago, Briefly.co.za learned. She became self-conscious about them.
Speaking to Sowetan Live, the entrepreneur said this changed when she went on a business trip to Morocco, where she discovered cold-pressed organic oils.
Relebohile, 37, said the organic oils healed her scars and rejuvenated her skin within weeks. However, she was retrenched from her job soon afterwards.
This prompted her to use her last R10,000 from her savings to start Afri-Berry, which provides high end organic skin and hair solutions. It's based in Centurion, Pretoria.
Afri-Berry imports organic oils from Morocco and manufactures the finished skin products in South Africa. Relebohile and her husband Fabien are its co-directors.
It currently exports to several countries abroad and employs 37 people. According to Destiny Magazine, it has an annual turnover of R7million.
Relebohile credited God for giving her strength and faith to overcome her challenges:
I knew from those moments that I had to find a solution to my devastation and, through faith, God gave me the wisdom to my destiny.
