A young lady in Johannesburg, Gauteng, recently took to Twitter to celebrate after her boyfriend first paid lobola for her and then proposed to her with a ring.

A proud and beaming Khayakazi Mngaza shared photos of herself and the ring with her followers, Briefly.co.za learned. She accompanied them with the caption:

The past 2 weekends have been so amazingly heartwarming! The weekend before: the cows led the way home. This past weekend: the ring followed. Basically, konwabekile.

Tweeps celebrated with Khayakazi, retweeting her post over 360 times and liking it more than 4,300 times.

Even as they congratulated her, some wondered if paying lobola first and then proposing with the ring takes away the element of surprise. See some reactions below.

Congratulations all around.

Some praised Khayakazi's boyfriend for starting with the traditional engagement before the ring.

However, others argued that paying lobola first means saying "yes" during a proposal afterwards s merely a formality.
