Monday night ended on such a high note as Mzansi Magic’s prison drama series Lockdown made a return to television and we were never ready!
The show trended on Monday night with viewers praising the stellar cast and incredible script. This season promises to be filled with action as new additions to the cast fan the flames of drama.
Fans took to social media to share their thoughts on the first episode:
Set in a women’s prison where power and survival mean everything, the terse and fast-paced drama will take you into the lives of the inmates as they battle demons that hold them prisoner in every sense of the word.
The last season left viewers on the edge of their seats as they grappled with questions about what was going to happen to Monde after her prison escape, and if Tyson would be going back to jail since she was trying to get her revenge on her rapist.
Briefly.co.za gathered that newcomers to the drama series this season are Dineo Nchabeleng, Mmabatho Montsho, Thembi Nyandeni, Celeste Ntuli, Elloit Makhubo, Khulu Skenjana, Manaka Ranaka and international favorite Tichina Arnolds.
Speaking to Channel 24 about how she got involved with the production, Tichina Arnolds said, “Bart Philipps and I used to work on Triumph Awards. He called me up and said ‘I have a very great opportunity for you in South Africa. I know Mandla N and he has a show called Lockdown and I want you to talk to him.” Thichina is mostly known for her roles on 90s sitcom Martin and Everbody Hates Chris.
Lockdown season 3 airs on Mondays, 8pm on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161).
