Local comedian and TV personality, Siv Ngesi was robbed in broad daylight and held at point in Johannesburg on Tuesday afternoon.
The entertainer was with his friends at a red traffic light when gunmen robbed them. Although Siv escaped unharmed from the incident, the thugs managed to escape with two of his friends’ phones and one person was hit over the head with a gun.
The comedian though revealed how in the moment he felt brave and stood up to the thieves when they ordered him to hand over his phone. In an interview with The Juice, Ngesi said, “This is a really expensive phone, and I have so many contacts on it. And for some reason, I just felt confident. I don’t recommend anyone doing what I did. Please do not try the same thing, Just hand over your phone.”
Briefly.co.za learned that Siv’s mother was upset when she found out that he fought the criminals for his cellphone. Speaking to Tshisa LIVE, the TV personality confirmed that he was doing great after the incident and was glad that no one was seriously harmed. He said growing up in Gugulethu where crime happened a lot taught him how to remain calm in situations like this.
