A 60-year-old Greenside resident built himself a double-storey shack, and it made him quite the local celeb.
Ebert Muthubi, who worked as a bricklayer for more than two decades, always wanted a two-storey house of his own.
But, he soon realized buying or building a brick double-storey home is far too expensive, so he improvised.
The Daily Sun reported the madala from extension 78 decided he was going to built himself a double-storey shack using thrown-away building materials he found at dumpsites.
The 60-year-old said his home did not cost that much, but it draws attention from all those who pass it by.
Muthubi dubbed his home a mansion, which consist of five rooms- three bedrooms, a kitchen and a lounge.
Briefly.co.za learned Muthubi said the second floor of his house was the main attraction, he added kids would come and visit him to play there.
As for his view, Muthubi said he has a front row seat to watch soccer games on a nearby field.
“Sometimes I sit upstairs and watch the soccer matches that take place at the local sports ground. It’s just as good as being at a stadium.”
