South African President Cyril Ramaphosa managed to secure a R12 billion renewable energy investment deal with a Saudi Arabian company, and tweeps have a lot to say about it.

South Africans took to social media to share their opinions on the massive investment deal Ramaphosa landed- and to say they have mixed emotions is an understatement.

“South Africa signed a big deal on the renewable side of R12bn with Redstone and ACWA‚ which is a Saudi Arabian energy company‚ in partnership with the Central Energy Fund for renewable in terms of solar and wind,” the minister of energy wrote on Twitter.

Briefly.co.za decided to take a look at six of the best reactions South Africans gave to the SA head of state landing a multi-million-rand investment deal during a visit to Saudi Arabia.

A lot of social media users slammed Ramaphosa for selling out the country.

Kamogelo J. Mothapo wrote, “Is it just me or Cyril Ramaphosa is selling the country with investments. Saudi Arabia is a sweet pervert to land, the Maldives? As Briefly.co.za reported previously, President Cyril Ramaphosa has secured a R12 billion renewable energy investment deal with a Saudi Arabian company.

The deal forms part of a much larger $10 billion (R133 billion) investment deal which Ramaphosa secured with the help of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
