Robert Marawa shoots down allegations of alleged hospitalisation

- Robert Marawa was allegedly hospitalised for two weeks due to a new health risk on his part

- Despite the allegations, he stated that his health should not be the worry of the media and that there are more important issues to report on

- Just last year he suffered a heart attack which created major alarm bells

TV and Radio personality, Robert Marawa, was again admitted to hospital on Tuesday last week.

The broadcaster has just recently re-joined SABC. His move will see new happenings as his well known sports show allegedly will be aired on Metro FM and Radio 2000. It is said that Marawa spend almost 14 days in an unrevealed and nonpublic hospital in Johannesburg.

Marawa’s fans got concerned when they last saw him appear on TV during the first round matches of the Fifa World Cup. This is when Sunday World became aware of his health condition.

Briefly.co.za learn that, due to Marawa been admitted into hospital, Carol Tshabalala and Neil Andrews were called on by Super Sport to host the remaining shows of the World Cup which were held in Russia.

Exclusive Books in Rosebank, Johannesburg launched former Bafana Bafana coach, Clive Barker’s book on Thursday night. Marawa was to be MC but due to his health, this was not possible.

Shaun Barlett was called upon by the organisers to stand in. Barker’s son, Garvin, said they were shocked to only hear at the event that Marawa was not available.

Giving an interview with Sunday World, Marawa commented that his illness was not one should be in the news as it is not that important. Marawa further stated that there are so many other things to report on, and that he never confirmed that he was not well.

He also denied that he was to appear at Barker’s book launch, despite announcements to the contrary.

In 2008, Marawa also had a health scare. This time is was a heart attack he suffered after attending a gym session. He claimed it was due to him not being active enough and his extremely busy routine. He also stated that there was no history of heart attacks in his family.

It was five years later that Marawa suffered another scare. This time he collapsed at an event his was supposed to MC. With him experiencing a heart attack years earlier, it was thought it was happening again. It was later found out that he was possibly suffering with food poisoning.

November last year saw Marawa once again admitted to a health facility. It put pressure on him and he later left broadcasting.

Marawa went missing in action for two weeks when he was protesting the suspension of his producer Beverly Maphangwa.

Despite allegations, nothing has been confirmed and not particulars of his alleged hospitalisation have been released.
