Man graduates from Oxford University, where he’s also a lecturer

A brilliant academic from Zimbabwe has inspired many tweeps after graduating with a PhD from Oxford University in the UK.

Simukai Chigudu proudly shared the news on his Twitter profile on 14 July, learned.

He accompanied it with photos of himself and his PhD certificate. His thesis was titled, "State of Emergency: The Politics of Zimbabwe's Cholera Outbreak, 2008/09."

According to Simukai's Twitter bio, he also lectures Development Studies at Oxford University. He will soon assume the title of Associate Professor of African Politics.

His celebratory tweet went viral, garnering over 3,000 likes and 500 retweets. Inspired tweeps congratulated him on his incredible achievement. See some of their reactions below.

Simukai revealed that he's currently working on a book version of his thesis, which he hopes will be published in 2019.
