- Ray Zuma told the media to keep off the family's lobola issues
- Reports earlier emerged that Nonkanyiso Conco's father was unhappy with Jacob Zuma
- He claimed that Zuma has not fulfilled his promise to pay lobola for his daughter
The spokesperson of the Zuma family, Ray Zuma, has blasted the media for reporting on its private matters.
Ray, who is former President Jacob Zuma's brother, told TimesLive on Monday that Zuma's lobola payment for his 24-year-old fianceé Nonkanyiso Conco is a matter between the two families.
As Briefly.co.za earlier reported, Nonkanyiso's father, Fartescue Conco, was allegedly unhappy with Zuma for apparently failing to honour his promise to pay the lobola.
Fartescue reportedly claimed that Nonkanyiso and her mother told him that Zuma paid R184,000. However, according to him, this was not what Zuma had promised.
Asked for a response to these claims, Ray said the media should keep off the family's affairs:
In African culture‚ lobola is discussed between the two families. It's none of your business! I said the same thing to the reporter who wrote the other story. It shouldn’t have been published. It's not anyone else's business.
Earlier, Nonkanyiso's brother, Shayimamba, disputed his father's claims. He insisted that the Zuma family has paid lobola as agreed.
He indicated that he would have a meeting with his father to establish why he was making his claims.
Shayimamba further said he would reach out to the Zuma family to clear the air and stop any tensions developing between the two families.
