On Wednesday 18 July, South Africans and the world celebrate what would have been the 100th birthday of world peace icon Nelson Mandela.
So, Briefly.co.za gathered four happy birthday messages to Madiba sent by some of the most well-known people across the globe.
1. Angélique Kidjo
Grammy Award-winning Beninese singer-songwriter took to social media to send the late SA president a happy birthday message.
"Happy birthday Nelson Mandela! You would be 100 years old today and we need your strength, determination and wisdom more than ever today! #NelsonMandela #Mandela100 @Beyonce @YoussouNdourSN," Kidjo wrote on Twitter.
2. Piers Morgan
Acclaimed British journalist Piers Morgan quoted Madiba in the birthday message he posted on social media.

3. Jeff Koinange
Award-winning journalist and author Jeff Koinange wrote an inspirational message on Twitter in honour of Madiba's centenary.
"Happy Birthday to one of History's GIANTS! Madiba, you would have turned 100 Years old today!! Your Legacy will LIVE on for the next 100 Years!! Viva Nelson Mandela, VIVA!! AMANDLA!!! #HappyBirthdayMadiba #RipMadiba cc @NelsonMandela."
4. Theresa May
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom also took to the social media platform to wish the former late SA president a happy 100th birthday.
"On what would have been his 100th birthday, we remember the incredible legacy of Nelson Mandela, who fought for an end to apartheid and for social justice in South Africa. #Mandela100 #MandelaDay."
