- Ben, a young boy, read Siya Kolisi's book
- It inspired him to make blankets for the less fortunate
- Siya in turn sent him a video acknowledging his kind initiative
Springboks Siya Kolisi has sent a video shoutout to a young South African fan who is making blankets for street children.
The young boy, Ben, started the initiative after reading Siya's inspiring book, Road to Glory, Briefly.co.za learned.
According to Ben's uncle, Gregg Fry, Siya's rise from humble beginnings to being Springboks captain inspired Ben to do something to help the less fortunate.
Gregg shared photos of Ben personally making the blankets along with a cover photo of Siya's book.
In turn, Siya sent Ben a heartwarming video acknowledging his kind initiative. He also pledged to donate as many blankets as Ben made.
The rugby captain said:
I'm really honoured and I appreciate the fact that my story could inspire you. What you're doing now with the blankets is inspiring me.
I'm gonna join you as well and do something with you. I'm also gonna donate blankets to people, so let me know how many you'll make and I'll try to get as many as I can as well.
Social media users also praised Ben for his wonderful initiative. See some of their reactions below.
