- A concept creator is making waves on social media after she accused Pearl Modiadie and the SABC of stealing her idea
- The concept creator, Glodine Makapela, also accuses David Tlale of stealing her idea
- Pearl, David and the SABC deny any truth behind the accusations from Glodine
South African content creator Glodine Makapela accuses the SABC, Pearl Modiadie of Raw Silk, and David Tlale of The Intern of stealing her idea for a designer reality show.
Pearl and David both deny that their shows are based on ideas by Glodine. The SABC has also responded by dismissing the claims.
ZAlebs reports that Glodine caused an upset on social media when she responded to a tweet by Pearl about the second season of Raw Silk.
Pearl responded to Glodine by saying she's sorry her show didn't get commissioned, but that her accusations are unacceptable.
According to a report by TimesLIVE, Glodine wants the SABC, Pearl and David to compensate her for stealing her idea. She added that she would give them a chance to "come clean" before taking the matter to court.
The concept designer says she has been building her idea since 2011 but couldn't find proper funding. She named the concept Top Designer and created a pilot for the show in 2015.
TshisaLIVE reports that they reached out to some of the alleged designers who worked on the pilot and they affirmed that they were part of it.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Pearl feels she should not be involved in the matter as she is only a presenter and has nothing to do with the intellectual property of the show.
