The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal has approached the National Executive Committee (NEC) to overturn its original decision which barred the party from publicly supporting former president Jacob Zuma at his corruption trial.
The NEC had allowed ANC members to support Zuma albeit in the personal capacities and not as representatives of the party or wore clothing branding the ANC logo or colours.
Briefly.co.za learned that Sihle Zikalala, the freshly elected ANC KZN chair, has assured members that they would not be targeted and removed if they supported any members of the ANC according to the sowetanlive.co.za.
The new KZN leadership was finally elected after a number of postponements and interruptions stemming from a court ruling that the former KZN elective conference results were invalid.
The new leadership has promised to unite the province and work towards winning the 2019 general elections.
Zikalala urged to party to investigate and stop the political killings which have plagued the province.
