Donald Trump and Iranian president threaten each other on Twitter

President Donald Trump of the United States of America has launched a stinging rebuke of the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Twitter, warning the latter not to threaten the US.

According to CNN, the US president’s tweet on Sunday night, July 22, followed a warning from his Iranian counterpart who had stated that Americans "must understand that war with Iran is the mother of all wars and peace with Iran is the mother of all peace.”

Briefly.co.za gathers that Rouhani also sent a direct message to Trump, saying "do not play with the lion's tail, because you will regret it eternally."

In response, Trump tweeted:

It was reported that President Donald Trump announced the United States’ withdrawal from the Obama-era nuclear agreement with Iran. He called it "decaying and rotten", Trump said the deal was "an embarrassment" to him "as a citizen".

Going against advice from European allies, he said he would re-impose economic sanctions that were waived when the deal was signed in 2015.
