- Former president Jacob Zuma stands accused of fraud, money laundering and racketeering but he doesn't have to worry about who pays his legal fees - the state is covering that for him
- South Africans are upset with the idea that their tax money is going towards funding Zuma's legal costs
As is often seen in this modern era, people took to social media to express their unhappiness with Jacob Zuma.
Parody Twitter account Man's Not Barry Roux shared a tweet about Zuma's lawyers and got the conversation going:
@AdvBarryRoux - Jacob Zuma hired lawyers that cost between R160 000 to R290 000 a day & it’s us taxpayers who will pay.
While the amounts mentioned in the tweet cannot be confirmed, South Africans still reacted to the most important matter to them - the state paying the fees in the first place.
@Phush_meza - Wow!! Yet free education is impossible. How can you fund someone who has already stolen so much . I’m so hurt. I don’t even know who the government is for anymore !
@PrinceMerit01 Sometimes i wonder why people like Zuma doesn't have Clientele, Scorpion and other legal policy which can pay for their legal shit instead of using state's fund.
@Sweetbobzin So no big man wants to use the states lawyers. But the states money can pay private ones mxm.
