A groom on Our Perfect wedding showed persistence is key when it comes to true love. Khumbulani Gumede, 34, fell in love with Mpume Maduna while she was doing her in-service training.
He pursued her for a long time but Maduna was not interested in a romantic relationship with the very persistent Gumede.
However, Gumede refused to throw in the towel, instead he worked harder to woo her and today she is Mrs Khumbulani Gumede.
Gumede’s persistence, as he called it, paid off and half a year into their relationship Gumede introduced Maduna to his mom, TimesLIVE reported.
Sadly, Gumede’s mother passed away in 2015 following a battle with an illness. And, since Mrs Gumede had no daughters-in-law, they had to ask Maduna’s mom if she could mourn her future mother-in-law.
"The whole situation was just very difficult for me, and I had to go through the entire process of mourning her death," the bride explained.
Despite both parties losing a parent, Gumede and his bride finally got their dream wedding three-years later and they wanted the whole of SA to witness their love.
Meanwhile, Gumede felt oh-too-sexy in his wedding attire, telling viewers: “As you can see, I look handsome.”
Fans of #OPW took to Twitter to share their opinions on the couple’s big day and it is save to say they hit it out of the ball park. So, Briefly.co.za gathered some of the best responses to their wedding.
