There has been a lot of debate around the fee of having DStv verses the fee of having Netflix. Netflix South Africa caught onto this and went for it full force.
Netflix SA decided to take a comical look on this one and ‘roast’ DStv by means of posting a funny advertisement which took a stab at them.
The advertisement was posted on Monday. It features local comedian Jason Goliath as a Netflix employee installing the service in the homes of new customers, reported Eyewitness News.
Briefly.co.za learnt that this was done as a bit of a stab at DStv, as we all know, Netflix does not need to be physically installed, where DStv does.
The advertisement is titled 'Jokes aside, no installation required' which implies a pretty direct stab at DStv. The need for a decoder and dish is just not a thing for Netflix, making it one of their best marketing tools, aside from the price.
There have been no come backs from DStv, yet. We don’t know where this leaves us, maybe with a #TVFeesMustFall rally? Who knows, at least we all got a little humour out of it. Well played Netflix SA.
