A woman in Oregon, US, found an unusual surprise at her home recently — a mountain lion napping behind a couch in her living room.

Lauren Taylor shared photos and videos of the 8 July encounter on Facebook, Briefly.co.za learned.

She said her housemate screamed when she first saw the female lion, thereby frightening her. However, Lauren was able to calm her down using her experience working with animals.

Lauren explained that she "consciously elevated the energy field and entrained her to a theta state." The lion then proceeded to sleep for six more hours.

In fact, Lauren was able to communicate with the animal even after she woke her up. She explained:

When I made noise, she woke up and looked startled so I consciously raised my frequency, gazed lovingly into her eyes, and communicated using feline-speak eye blinking to calm her.
It was amazing to realise that this worked. I gazed lovingly then blinked hard and then she did it back! Then, she went back to sleep.

As dawn approached, Lauren began beating a drum as a way of urging the mountain lion to leave. She obliged and peacefully left her home. Nobody was harmed in the encounter.

The brave woman suggested that the lion entered her home after drinking water from a pond in her yard earlier that day.

Her post went viral and has racked up a whopping 22,000 reactions and 21,000 shares so far. She however cautioned others against trying to connect with a mountain lion in the same way.

Lauren hoped that the cougar would stay safely in the hills and live a long and healthy life.
