Social media users were left shook after news broke that one school in Limpopo had 27 leaners who are pregnant.
Taking to its official Twitter account, SAfm News posted the story on Thursday, and it left tweeps flabbergasted.
The post also suggested one 18-year-old student from a Bloodriver school gave birth to triplets three weeks ago.
“Molautsi Secondary School at Bloodriver near Polokwane in Limpopo has confirmed that it has 27 learners who are pregnant. Three weeks ago an 18-year-old from the school gave birth to triplets.”
The news shocked tweeps, who were divided in their opinions on the serious issue. So, Briefly.co.za gathered some South Africans’ views on the high pregnancy rate of the Limpopo high school.
"How can we move this country forward if people have kids while in school. How long can ANY government continue to pay grants with such a huge population explosion? Totally unsustainable and the ANC knows it. EFF idiots tell people they must have MORE babies. In end- no grants,” social media user @Marita_1010 wrote.
Another tweep, Kedibone Moagi, added: “They might as well get pregnant now and receive welfare now. The government has no plans to keep them as productive members of society anyway. Being disabled is not ideal, and waiting 20 years to receive government pension is torture. We the taxpayers will keep them going.”
