Social media users were shocked to see Amsterdam used Mercedes-Benz vehicles as their taxis.
Dr Sindi Van Zyl took to Twitter to share a couple of photos of the luxury cars used in Amsterdam as taxis.
"I'm still not over Mercedes-Benz being taxis ... #Amsterdam. I was in a Viano taxi this morning," she captioned the photos on social media.
South Africans are used to skoroskoros on the road, so the Mercedes-Benz taxis took them by surprise.
Social media user @NaomiLekota commented, "Lol! My best friend’s mum was in awe when she was here in May. She loves the Viano but was so shattered when she realised we use them as cabs in London. When my mum was visiting, all our uberX cars were E-class Mercedes, literally every time we called UberX. She loved it!"
Social media user @lebomathlo added, "Here if they were used as taxis deaths on the roads will be 10 000 per month. Okare keya bona taxi drivers competing to get to town 1st eee."
Phuti Khomotso Ratshabedi wrote, "Yoh, V class Ke taxi daar Netherlands!!! Such luxury."
While the taxis in Amsterdam sport a Mercedes-Benz badge, South African taxis are getting taken off the road for not complying with the road standards.
As Briefly.co.za reported previously, the Chief of Police at the Johannesburg Metro Police Department took to his official Twitter account to share shocking images of one of the taxis they impounded recently.
Tweeps were shocked to see the horrific condition some SA taxis were in- which led to them dubbing the vehicles caskets on wheels.
