Dicken was called out on Tuesday night after a Sugar Mill Road resident reported a strange noise in his back yard.

The security guard went to investigate at around 10:30 pm, but he was not prepared for what he found.

According to Dicken, the client said he heard a noise which resembled either a small cat or a baby. He went to search at the back of the yard, but the search was difficult because they’ll hear the noise, then it would stop.

Just when Dicken wanted to give up hope, he heard the cry again and to his shock, he discovered the little baby between the client and his neighbour’s yard in a thick bush.

They went to ask the neighbour, 25-year-old Keaton Uys, if they could go take a look in his backyard and Dicken explained there was a baby.

Uys he heard the strange noise since Sunday, and his Jack Russell terriers, Lolly and Max, would then run and into the bush. learned it is believed Lolly and Max took care of the little baby, who was dubbed Lazer Boy, because he had no dirt on him.

Dicken said when he found the boy he knew he had to get him to a hospital. He added Lazer Boy’s lips were blue and he had been shivering- but he sucked his thumb on the way to the hospital.

“He was quiet in the van, just making a few baby noises and sucking his thumb. It was as if he felt relieved that someone had finally helped him. It was probably the first time he had been picked up. This innocent baby did nothing to deserve this,” said Officer Dicken.

South Coast Herald reported when its reporters went to visit the site, the saw where the mom gave birth was a few metres away from where the boy had been found- it meant the little baby rolled down hill.

According to police, an investigation has been launched to find the mother. Dicken now hopes Lazer Boy finds a great and loving home to grow up in.

Social media users took to Facebook to give their opinions on little Lazer Baby being saved.

Megan Ramdin wrote, “So glad this baby was saved.. how on earth do a person do this .. there's so many places one can actually go ask for help or even give ur Baby for adoption....and truly blessed this baby bcos God really had his eyes on this baby an protected him..surely there's a reason he survived this brazen weather ....God certainly has a purpose for his greatness.”
Tegan Clare Coetzee added, “How can a mother abandon her child. Today we have so many people who are willing to help ! Safe houses , adoption ... the list is endless !!!! Gods Miracle over this precious soul!”
