A judge has rules that unhappiness is not a good enough reason for divorce and forced a lady to stay married to her husband.
Turns out that being unhappy is no reason for a divorce. At least that is what one judge has ruled after a couple filed for divorce citing their unhappiness as the reason for the divorce.
According to odditycentral.com, 68 year-old Tina Owens had been trying to divorce her husband after 4 years of marriage, but five judges in the UK highest court unanimously decreed she had to stay married to her husband until 2020> They will have then been separated for five years and she will have grounds to divorce him without consent or evidence of fault.
Tina petitioned for divorce in 2015 his focus on his job and lack of love and affection to her as reasons for the divorce.
Her husband disagreed and believed they had learnt to “rub together” over the years. He added that he hoped she would change her mind and come back to him – she never did.
The process has been lengthy for Tina as Judge after Judge has denied her reasons for the divorce and one even stated her husband was just a little old-school.
Tina wasn’t prepared to give up and took her divorce case all the way to the Supreme Court. Unfortunately this was not successful for the lady, and the judges again ruled that she should remain married as they grounds for her divorce were not reason enough to grant it.
