Silly mistake leads to arrest of cash in transit heist kingpin linked to 23 robberies

Wellington “Bibi” Cenenda has been arrested in a stolen car on Thursday night outside a Bloemfontein shopping mall. He had been linked to 23 cash in transit heists which results in R46-million being stolen in the last two years.

Cenanda was arrested when police thought a car looked suspicious and when they checked the officers realised the car was stolen. When the questioned the driver they discovered it was none other than the alleged mastermind of over 23 cash in transit heists.

Briefly.co.za learned that his arrest comes after the police caught 23 of his gang members, one of them being Errol Velile Present who was employed at the ANC headquarters, Luthuli House as well as being an ANC branch secretary in Dobsonville according to timeslive.co.za.

Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi, the Hawks spokesperson, has confirmed that Cenenda has been arrested in relation to the cash in transit robberies dating back to 2016.

Cenenda has been hard to catch and has evaded the Hawks efforts in the ast and narrowly escaped arrest when they raided his safe houses in Tembisa‚ Gauteng and Tzaneen‚ Limpopo.
