Gautrain workers are on strike amid deadlocked wage talks

- Gautrain operators are on a strike while wage talks are still underway

- There will be reduced services from Gautrain as a result of the failing wage negotiations

- The United National Transport Union has rejected the offer of a minimum salary of R8 500

While wage talks between Gautrain operators and the United National Transport Union have failed to come to a point, the workers are on a strike.

This strike will affect Gautrain's operations and passengers to OR Tambo International Airport will also feel the effects.

MyBroadband reports that Gautrain regrets the strike and added that their offer to raise the minimum salaries of workers to R8 500 has been rejected by the United National Transport Union.

Train services will be unavailable during off-peak periods. Only the Sandton, Park, and Centurion stations will be open.

Briefly.co.za learned that there will be alternative bus services for Rhodesfield station.

According to a report by Fin24, the Midrand depot has been blocked by the strikers and are preventing buses from leaving.
