Unemployment is not just an issue in South Africa, other parts of the world also struggle, even big countries such as America.
The reality of unemployment world wide came into focus after a photo of a homeless IT developer went viral on social media.
David Casarez, who has a degree in software development and three-years-experience in the industry, was photographed handing out his CV on the side of the road in Mountain View, California, Mashable.com reported.
According to the report, Casarez moved to Silicon Valley with a dream of starting his own company. However, the cost of living was too much for Casarez to handle and it left him unemployed, homeless and broke.
Briefly.co.za learned social media user @jaysc0 posted Casarez’s story Twitter account last week Friday, and since then the homeless web developer received several job offers.
According to an update given by @jaysc0, major internet companies reached out to Casarez, including Google, Netflix and LinkedIn.
The overwhelming response led to Casarez taking to Twitter to thank everyone who helped raise awareness for his story.
“Thank you everyone for the outpouring of support! I am completely floored by how many are interested in my #Hungry4Success story. I have met several who have been or currently are in the same situation tell me their story. I am glad to be an inspiration for you all,” he captioned the post.
