Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana has heaped praise on the talent and potential of the club’s star signing for the new season Andile Jali. Kekana said he felt that Jali’s skills would help improve the entire team.

Kekana said the skills and experience Jali brought with him were almost sure to lift the performance of the entire team, he added that he looked forward to playing with the Bafana Bafana star.

Kekana was quick to point out that Sundowns would not rely on the skills of just one player but rather the team operated as a whole and it was important for all the players in the squad to gel and be able to play with each other.

Briefly.co.za gathered that Jali returned to South Africa earlier this year after spending three years with KV Oostende in Belgium.

Jali’s future was for months the source of much debate and speculation and he reportedly considered options from all three of the PSL’s big three teams. Jali was reported to have been in favour of joining Kaizer Chiefs but their offer never met his expectation.

Sport24.com reported that Jali signed a long-term deal with Mamelodi Sundowns which believed to be for four years with the option of a fifth if both parties agree.

Kekana admits the club had suffered somewhat with the departure of both Khama Billiat and Percy Tau. He lauded coach Pitso Mosimane for making the best of the situation and minimising the effect those departures had on the performance of the tea.

Kekana revealed that the players were looking forward to starting the new PSL season and were preparing themselves for a titanic clash with Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday afternoon.

Mamelodi Sundowns will take on Kaizer Chiefs in the opening match of the new PSL season on Saturday afternoon. Sundowns host Chiefs at Loftus Versfeld, the match is set for a 15:00 kick-off.

Sundowns are looking to defend their PSL crown from last season.
