- BLF leader Andile Mngxitama has announced his organisation would lay criminal charges against the man who handed Julius Malema an assault rifle over the weekend
- A video appearing to show Malema firing shots from an assault rifle into the air during an EFF birthday celebration has been circulated on social media
- Mngxitama said the white man had been involved in a plot to get Malema to kill black people in his behalf
Black First Land First (BLF) leader Andile Mngxitama announced that his organisation would lay criminal charges against the white settler who handed a high-powered assault rifle to Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema.
Mngxitama claims the white man who served as one of Malema’s bodyguards was involved in an elaborate plot to get Malema to kill black people on his behalf.
Mngxitama said the incident was part of a carefully calculated plan to kill and maim black people. He said the bodyguard was aware that the crowd was made up of black people and he had handed the gun to Malema with the hope of inflicting as much damage as he could while keeping his own hands clean.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Mngxitama said the type of rifle used in the incident was an R5 which was known as a weapon which was favoured by the apartheid-government and its operatives.
Citizen.co.za reported that Mngxitama said the incident was concerning because it looked like the beginnings of apartheid sponsored black on black violence.
He said it was suspicious that the EFF’s alleged funder Adriano Mazzotti was linked to Craig Williamson who was, according to Mngxitama, a known spymaster and apartheid assassin and now a rifle favoured by the apartheid regime had been used by Malema.
Mngxitama said the incident worried him because he wanted to know who the white bodyguard was and how he was connected to Mazzotti and Williamson.
Briefly.co.za previously reported about the video which appears to show Malema firing a rifle into the air during an EFF celebration over the weekend.
The party has since said the incident was just a simulation and that Malema had coordinate his jerking motion of the gun with fireworks going off to make it look like he was firing a real weapon.
BLF said it would open a case against the man (which it had apparently not yet identified) at Hillbrow police station on Thursday. News24.com has confirmed that the man in question is Adriaan Snyman the owner of Bluff Security Services.
AfriForum previously stated it would lay charges against Malema for discharging a firearm in public.
