An 83-year-old gogo in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, has only one wish — to live in an RDP house before she passes away.
A Twitter user, Sandiso, shared photos of the unnamed gogo standing in front of her dilapidated shack recently, Briefly.co.za gathered.
The heartbreaking images touched many tweeps and have racked up more than 500 retweets so far.
Tweeps sympathised with the elderly lady. Some blamed corruption and asked the government to assist her.
One tweep said conditions are similarly bad in public hospitals.
For one commenter, funds that built security upgrades in former president Zuma's Nkandla homestead should have been used to help such elderly women.
Many elderly people in South Africa are indeed bearing the brunt of poverty.
Recently, Briefly.co.za shared the story of a 63-year-old woman in Mangaung, Free State, whose RDP house has huge cracks.
