Viewers of ‘The Herd’ would have seen a familiar scene as Bab’Mthethwa and his daughter, Kayise, discuss her future on the family’s land.
Land ownership has been the topic of much discussion among South Africans and the popular TV show gave viewers a lot to think about.
The family’s land holds a lot of value to Bab’Mthethwa. To him, it holds his heritage and family’s legacy which he would like to pass on to future generations.
However, Kayise is not sure if this is the path that she would like to take for herself.
The show handled the matter in a very delicate way as the show let viewers hear both sides of the argument.
Briefly.co.za reported that “The Herd’ took took the country by storm with its unique story line.
The show follows Bhekisizwe Mthethwa who, out of desperation, makes a sacrifice to a witch in order to turn his life around. Mthethwa had been fired from his job at a butchery due to an injury and was struggling to care for his wife and child. Over time he takes over the family cattle business but this does not bode well with the rest of his family.
Viewers took to Twitter to express their views and start a new conversation about land ownership.
