Julius Malema’s right hand said the extremely high unemployment in South Africa was due to joblessness.

"The major cause of unemployment in South Africa is joblessness,” he said.

Eusebius McKaiser shared Shivambu’s statement on Twitter on Thursday and it led to a full-blown roasting of the EFF deputy president.

So, Briefly.co.za decided to gather some of the best roasts of Shivambu’s statement.

Social media user @KingThesues wrote, “The major cause of state capture is capturing the state.’
Another tweep, @Supremekagiso, added: “Let me help you: The major cause of unemployment in this country is corruption that turns off the investors and this lead to joblessness. It inconceivable that you Floyd and your EFF guys want to run the country but you can't analyse a simple straight forward problem.”

However, Shivambu took to the social media platform to explain exactly what he meant by the statement that confused some tweeps.

“Yes I said it in reference to the fact that South Africa’s economy and it’s slow growth are jobless. The industrial and broader economic capacity to absorb the entirety of SA’s workforce is limited. This is was contrast to a suggestion that unemployment is caused by migration,” he responded.
