A 21-year-old South African man has broken his eight-year silence about his experience of being sexually assaulted.
Sibulele, from Cape Town, revealed on Twitter recently that he had the unfortunate experience when he was 13 years old, Briefly.co.za learned.
This is the first time he has revealed it in public, and not even his sister knew about it. Sibulele added that the perpetrator passed away two years ago.
In a subsequent tweet, Sibulele said his silence was a result of fear and stigma. However, he decided to finally come out because "enough is enough."
The brave survivor explained that therapists helped him overcome the experience over the past three years.
Sibulele's revelation touched the hearts of thousands of tweeps. It has garnered over 2,000 retweets and 5,000 likes so far.
Tweeps praised his resilience and commended him for inspiring others.
