On Thursday, 9 August, South Africa mourns the death of one of its greatest Hip-Hop artists, Linda 'ProKid' Mkhize.
The news of ProKid's death sent shock waves through the country on Women's Day, and soon social media platforms were flooded with tribute messages in his honour.
So, Briefly.co.za decided to pay tribute to ProKid by taking a look at four of the greatest moments in his career.
1. The song that got his career on track
Linda Mkhize shot to fame with his hit track Soweto, which was released in 2005. The popular song landed him a record deal with Gallo Record Company, the largest label in South Africa.
2. His big break on television
In 2006, he was chosen to co-present SABC1's dance show, Jika Ma Jika.
3. ProKid's collaboration with Tripple & Touch
According to Last Fm, two-years after releasing his hit single Soweto, the South African rapper travelled to the Netherlands to record with the country's beloved group Tripple & Touch.
According to the report, it was one of the 37-year-olds most cherished moments- since he got to perform in Amsterdam alongside P. Diddy.
4. Opening act for major international names
Throughout his career, ProKid had the opportunity to open for major international starts, including 50 cents and Busta Rhymes.
As Briefly.co.za reported earlier, ProKid's family confirmed his death on Thursday morning. The rapper suffered a fatal seizure while hanging out with his friends on Wednesday evening.
