- Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba will approach court to take on the Guptas over alleged racial slurs
- Mayor Mashaba asked the National Director of Public Prosecution, Shaun Abrahams, to act but has not received a response yet
- The Jozi mayor will be taking Atul and Ajay Gupta to court for their racial slurs
Herman Mashaba was expecting the National Director of Public Prosecution, Shaun Abrahams, to act against the Gupta brothers for their alleged racist behaviour.
Mayor Mashaba wrote a letter to Abrahams and gives him 2 months to act against the Guptas.
A report by BusinessLIVE indicates that Mayor Mashaba believes Abrahams doesn't see the allegations made against the Guptas in a serious light because he has not responded to the letter Mashaba wrote.
Now Mashaba will turn to court to now take the legal route himself against the Guptas, specifically Atul Gupta and Ajay Gupta for their racism.
He will not be acting as mayor in this case.
The Guptas are accused of being racist towards black South Africans as well as the ever-standing corruption.
Mayor Mashaba recently spoke to current and past members of staff of the the Guptas and they have shared accounts of racism against non-white workers.
At this time, the workers wish to remain anonymous. A former director at Gupta TV, Rajesh Sundaram, confirms the allegations of racism.
