Government reaches out to assist in the burial of rapper ProKid

- South African rapper ProKid will be buried on Sunday

- The Gauteng government has stepped forward to lend a helping hand to insure that he gets a proper send-off which celebrates his life

- There will also be a memorial service that will be held on Thursday in Johannesburg before the actual funeral on Sunday

South African rapper, ProKid, passed away last week, the news left Mzansi shook. He will be buried this weekend and the Gauteng government has stepped forward to lend a helping hand.

Gauteng MEC for community safety, Faith Mazibuko, was at ProKid’s family home in Jabulani, Soweto on Monday. She stated that they will assist in any way that they can in order to give him the send-off that he deserves, reported Times Live.

She said that he needs to be celebrated. She also stated that they are there merely to assist and that the family is still fully in control of the funeral preparations.

Faith also said that they were trying to book the hall at the University of Johannesburg's Soweto campus for ProKid's funeral on Sunday in order to accommodate the numbers.

Briefly.co.za learnt that he will be buried alongside other famous South African musicians like Robbie Malinga and Mandoza.

Nathi Mthethwa, the Arts and culture minister, also paid a visit to ProKid’s family home on Monday to show respect to the family.

Aside from his funeral on Sunday, there will be a memorial service held on Thursday in Johannesburg for the rapper.

ProKid passed away last week Wednesday due to what his family referred to as "severe seizure".
