Author Mark Minnie wrote a book with Chris Steyn that accuses apartheid ministers of being paedophiles. The book, The Lost Boys of Bird Island, allegedly exposes three men's activities with young boys.
Now it is reported that Mark was found dead in his friend's farmhouse in Theescombe on Monday night.
News24 reports that the police do not suspect foul play at this time of their investigation. However, it is believed that Steyn and Minnie lived in fear since they released the book because they've received threats.
Chris Steyn and Mark Minnie wrote The Lost Boys of Bird Island and shocked South Africans with their accusations.
The accused ministers allegedly took young coloured children to Bird Island and to molested them. Magnus Malan, one of the named ministers, passed away in 2011 and was the SA Defence Minister when P.W Botha was the president.
The other accused that was named, John Wiley, was South Africa's Minister of Environmental Affairs and Tourism during Botha's time as president. Wiley was murdered in 1987 - he was shot in the head - and his murder is still not solved.
The 3rd man accused of being a paedophile wasn't revealed in the book as the publishers' lawyers told them to not name him, as reported on by Briefly.co.za.
TimesLIVE reported that Minnie lived in China but was in Port Elizabeth on vacation.
