Teachers at several schools in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng, have reportedly chased away "demon-busting" pastors from the schools' premises.

The pastors have been using the schools in Duduza as venues for their church services, Daily Sun reports.

In return, they have been reportedly "banishing demons" that apparently possess school children. However, teachers now claim that the "demons" keep returning, Briefly.co.za learned.

One of the teachers said:

We are the ones left with the problem after these churches leave. Kids act strangely and it’s difficult to control them when these spirits attack.
Some of these pastors know how to remove these demonic spirits but they don’t know how to destroy them.

However, the decision has angered the pastors. Bishop Andile Madiba appealed to the municipality to allocate them sites of worship:

We admit that some demons are not destroyed and we can’t perform rituals at schools to get rid of these spirits. If we had our own sites, it would be easy for us to perform the rituals.

The municipality's spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, said there was a shortage of land in Ekurhuleni. As a result, the municipality is giving housing top priority.

He therefore appealed to the churches to follow due accreditation processes.
