- Just a few days after violence against women came into focus another case has taken centre stage at the University of Fort Hare
- A final year student Anathi Madikane continuously booted his girlfriend in a video that has gone viral
- The incident comes days after the Women's day in which President Ramaphosa spoke strongly against gender based violence
Students and authorities at Fort Hare university are outraged after a video now gone viral shows final year student Anathi Madikane lunging at a female student with a flying kick and he kicks her a few times before she is whisked away by some fellow students. The incident which is said to have taken place on Women's day contrasts sharply with the message delivered by President Cyril Ramaphosa to commemorate the day.
The incident comes hot on the heels of another incident at an institution of higher learning which resulted in the passing on of another female student after being an alleged victim of sexual violence. Briefly.co.za has gathered the student has been suspended and disciplinary action will be instituted against him. The concerned student has since issued a public apology on social media expressing regret for his actions.
