The 50 year old Sarah Fox Children’s Convalescent Hospital is closing. This is after government cut funding for the institution. The institution which provides rehabilitation and recovery for children with special needs will leave 70 people out of employment.
The department of Health in the Western Cape said it had to close down the hospital due to maladministration. Briefly.co.za learned that about 40 patients will be transferred to alternate facilities. The move has triggered protests from concerned residents amid accusations of lack of priority by the government.
