The wife of the late struggle veteran Robert Sobukwe, Zondeni Sobukwe, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, 15 August.
Zondeni Sobukwe died in hospital in the Western Cape after a long illness, according to a report by EWN.
Cunningham Ncukana of The Robert Sobukwe Trust broke the news and informed South Africa that the woman fondly called the "Mother of Azania" has passed away.
The late struggle fighter and nurse spent 3 weeks in the Midland Hospital in Graaff-Reinet, Eastern Cape but she passed away at home.
Robert Sobukwe was an important part of the struggle against the apartheid government and founder of the Pan Africanist Congress.
Robert was a lawyer, teacher and Fort Hare University SRC President and voted 42nd in the SABC3's Great South Africans.
